NIFT 2014 admissions | Lateral entry applications

NIFT - National Institute of Fashion Technology called for Lateral entry admissions for the second year [semester 3] of its undergraduate program,
" Bachelor of Fashion Technology and Bachelor of Fashion Design" depending upon available seats.



Under the lateral entry admission process total availability of seats are 178 across the different branches of NIFT in India. Admissions are based on the entrance test. The due date for submitting application form is dated by April-28-2014.

Branches of NIFT: Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Bhopal, Kolkata, New Delhi, Patna, Rae Bareli, Bhubaneswar, Shillong, Jodhpur, Kangra and Gandhinagar. 

Eligibility:

Candidate should have possessed 3 years after 10th of diploma or a degree in a related field such as Fashion or Apparels or Textile and Accessories or Home Science or Handloom Technology or Products or Visual Communication or Graphic Design or Industrial Design or Interior Design or Multimedia Design or Apparel Technology or Leather.

Candidates having completed a similar course from a central/state government institute or AICTE / AIU / UGC recognised institute/college/university or a course that in the opinion of director general NIFT can be accepted as similar to the above courses would be eligible.

Selection Process:

Candidates who are Eligible would be selected for the B.Des. courses and it is totally based on a General Ability Test [GAT] with 40%, a Studio Test for 40% and an interview for 20%.

Candidates who are Eligible would be selected for the B.F.Tech. course on the basis of a General Ability Test [GAT] with 40%, a Technology Aptitude Test for 40% and an interview for 20%.

How to apply:

Candidates who are interested and eligible  can apply by submitting duly filled application form online and then taking a print-out of the completed form and sending it with attested copies of relevant certificates and a demand draft for the amount of application fee to the branch of NIFT applying to.

Application fee:

Candidates applying should submit the application fee in the form of demand draft on the name of the National Institute of Fashion Technology and it is payable at the city of the campus applying for.


Amount of fee:
Fee for General/OBC candidates: Rs 1,100
Fee for SC/ST or persons with disabilities: Rs 550
