India fails to get Quattrocchi's extradition

On 6th February 2007, Interpol in Argentina detained Ottavio Quattrocchi, an accused in the Bofors payoffs case,
who was transiting from a provincial airport to Beunos Aires.

On 26th February, an Argentinian court released Quattrocchi on bail. On 2nd March India presented a detailed case for the extradition of  Ottavio Quattrocchi to India, based on documents drawn to CBI, to Argentina.

Quattrocchi said he was being targeted unfairly and that case against him politically motivated.

The hearing for the extradition of  Ottavio Quattrocchi to India began in the Argentina court on 23rd March. In May the court ruled against Quattrocchi's extradition.
