In the first sign that the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is going ahead with the ethanol-run buses mooted by union road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari, a proposal has been prepared by mayor Anil Sole asking the municipal commissioner to implement the project. As per the note, the grand flag-off is planned on August 9.

Six-day police custody for Wasankar, family
Prashant Wasankar, brother Vinay and brother-in-law Abhijeet Chaudhary, arrested on Sunday for allegedly duping large number of investors of crores of rupees through dubious investment schemes, were on Monday remanded to police custody for six days by a special court hearing cases under Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors Act (MPID), 1999.

Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday announced a reward of Rs 50 lakh to Satish Kumar Sivalingam, who won a gold medal in weightlifting at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Sunday night. Satish, 22, lifted a total of 328kg (149+179) to pip the 2010 CWG gold medallist Ravi Katulu, who had to be content with a silver medal.
