Kimi Raikkonen Wins Formula One World Championship

On 21st October 2007, Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen won the Brazilian Grand Prix and with it Formula one World Championship,

ahead of rookie star Lewis Hamilton and his McLaren tea-mate and reigning world championship Fernando Alonso.

However, officials announced after the race that fuel samples taken from the the cars of three drivers, all of who finished ahead of the Hamilton, contravened the FI rules.

If the three drivers are disqualified, Hamilton would be elevated to fourth place in the race and would garner enough points to win the world championship.

Raikkonen will have to wait till 15 November 2007, when the FIA International Court of Appeal takes a decision, to learn if he is officially the Formula One champion for 2007.
